I'm especially fond of Coilla, the Mistress of Strategy among the Wolverines. No, I straight up love her. In the whole fantasy book area, female characters are quite often part of the narrow spectre of "mother, wife, helpless princess", and the cool guys are by default all male. The chainmail bikinis that pop up here and there merely to feast the eye only make it worse. Coilla really stands out with her toughness and independence, and she also has that strong empathy. I love the dialogues between her and Stryke, the captain, she seems to be the only one he can truly pour out his heart to. I suck at painting belts and chainmail. In the books it is mentioned that she has a ponytail, and since I really like the thought of her having a shaved head as well I tried to combine those two styles. Her armour is quite a lot inspired by the game "Skyrim", as I have designed my favourite Skyrim character after her.
My name is Annika Lillan. I am a warm-hearted thing that sometimes believes to be a human, born in the wrong epoch. If I could choose a random carrier, I´d become a viking. I´d make for a great shielmaiden, as I´m almost 6´2" tall. |
I adore art, but also lots of other things. I keep a small horde of stickbugs (phasmidae) and two giant millipedes. I am addicted to chocolate and excessive wool hoarding, I love Star Wars, books, gaming, handcrafts, unconventional cultural phenomena (like reenactement and nerdism), celtic/viking culture and stuff I find in nature, like snail shells, leafes, bones, wings and claws. The appartment I share with my beloved partner Tim looks like a small museum. Sometimes I work in a falconry, helping to show medieval hunting to people. I like cooking, my terrarium, thrashy movies, my XBox and gamecube, hiking, fantasy and mythology, medieval festivals (giving me the great feeling of living in a time long ago...) and creativity in every way.
I love viking reenactment, and because of me being a poor student, I need to make most of the equipment myself. I taught myself tablet weaving, viking wire knit, naalebinding, bonecarving and sewing.
Being a neopagan, I try to spend much time out in nature watching and listening. I also try help protecting its beauty, that´s one of the reasons why I study Biology. I´m currently doing my MSc.
I can´t really identify my favourite way to express art. I draw and paint landscapes, portraits, cartoons, scifi, fantasy, anthro, nude art and much more, although my favorite style should be folkloristic fantasy. I like to work with all traditional mediums.
